Separation between Master and PCM volume in Linux is really annoying because different applications choose to control one but not the other. This small python script that periodically polls both channels and averages both channels.

Gaim

• Super hacky mega hack to make Gaim always queue messages and only release them on SIGUSR2. This is the only way it is usable in ion.

• Kayla was depressing me with her perfect capitalization, so I just had to write this perl plugin for Gaim that automatically capitalizes first words in sentences.

I've since stopped using gnomeicu, because everybody seems to be on msn now-a-days, so I switched to Gaim.

GnomeICU

GnomeICU is an excelent ICQ client that I have been using for a long time now. Unfortunately, it's development has all but stopped, so I had to add the features I wanted myself.

  • applies to GnomeICU 0.99 and recent CVS version
  • adds (optional) spell checking support using GtkSpell
  • I sent this to the GnomeICU mailing list, but they never got back to me
  • Update: looks like they actually incorporated it into the next version afterall
